Staggered Hours

Vary the start and end working hours in a manner that works best for employees, fulfilling the core working hours within a work-day (e.g. 8 hours). There is a typical timeframe during which all employees must be present at work (e.g. 10 am - 4 pm).

Important Considerations
  • Proper policy, system controls and reporting must be in place prior to implementation.

  • Employees must have a significant amount of trust to successfully implement a staggered hours work arrangement.

  • The staggered hours work arrangement is exercised with the expectation that the job responsibilities can be successfully completed within the normal 8 hour work day.

  • The staggered hours work arrangement should be reviewed at least once per year.

  • A degree of control over this option is needed depending on the company’s policies (security system, clock in hours, reporting).
